I went to Elliot Brack's funeral yesterday. He was a friend. And he was quite a character. He was one of the first people I met outside of work when I moved to Georgia. He was sort of a variation of the main character of Tom Wolfe's "A Man In Full". I used to say that Elliott and I had a 50-50 relationship. He told me what to do and I did it. His 50% was telling me. My 50% was doing it. He was a fixture at my church and involved me in all sorts of things. Including organization of our "Civic Breakfast" where we invited leaders from the community for information and opinions of the community. It goes on and on. Arrived! The Seventh Continent! It has been a bit Surreal.

I MADE IT! Seven Continents. Antarctica. McMurdo Station.

I am typing away here at a walk-up computer at McMurdo Station. I arrived about an hour ago. I called Bonnie and I am trying to get to all these things you have to do when you first arrive.

I can hardly believe it. My first impression of Antarctica and McMurdo getting off the plane was that it was prettier than I though it was going to be. McMurdo is pretty much surrounded by mountains which you cannot really appreciate without a panorama. There is a nice light snow cover right now. The temps are mild at only about 5 below. The wind was almost non-existent. The snow squeeks beneath my feet. Someone made sure to let me know it hardly ever this nice here. I have a lot of short movies and pictures to post as I get settled. I am a very happy guy. I will be figuring out why I am here in time. I have lots of journal notes and I am surprised at how many pages I have written so far. I am going to breeze thru the two notebooks that I have. They fit very nicely in a parka pocket.

The ice-flight was the best flight I have ever been on. It was 5 hours, but it felt like 30 minutes. Very nice, lots of pictures to post.

It is strange and exciting and even though I have been working on this for a long time it all seems to happen fast.

Memorial Day 2026

We have had a dry spring weather-wise this year. But now Mother Nature is making up for it. There was flooding on what we call "The Connector" in Atlanta. The connector is both I 75 and I 85 running through downtown. Needless to say it is a very large artery. The forecast looks like it will be rain for about 10 days. Here is a rare picture with at least a piece of each car in the current fleet. It is too many vehicles. It takes too much attention for all the care and feeding. The Humvee goes on display today. CNN.com - Shuttle 'wounded' earlier than thought - Mar. 5, 2003 We have the fencing. We have ordered the Run-in (3 sided building) for the llamas. We will have everything we need in about a week and a half. I have to get some feed this weekend. I have an area 11 contest to host this weekend on Saturday. It looks like we have 4 contestants for each contest. It should be fun. I am a lot less nervous for this area contest than I was for the last one. I received my diploma in the mail yesterday. Those things take quite a while. The big decisions are whether to pursue more school, certifications or what. I still have to decide what is next. I may pursue a certicate in "knowledge management" http://www.kmcertification.org/ I may concentrate on the book or the e-commerce website. I have a lot to decide.

I am continuing with the soft launch of wisdomino (wis-do-mino). My partners and I are consulting in the Technical Information space. We have some really cool, gamechanging apps we are testing, sharing and getting feedback. I attended a Association of Equipment Manufacturers meeting in Milwaukee. Very good event.

There has a been a lot going on. Over the Holidays I was in GA, NY, MI, MA, RI, FL. DJ has moved off the farm and has moved back to her Farm. I did some night flight last night. There is a requirement to do 10 takeoffs and landings at night for the private pilot licence. Landing at night is different. It is like... well... dark. I took a bunch of photos, but the most interesting is the one where the flash was on by accident. I like that you can through the prop and that the windscreen didn't seem that dirty.
