The Nissan Leaf on the Farm

Image
With tribute to USDA and other government furnished information of the post war advice converting Model-Ts to tractors --"Doodle Bugs". I towed the resurrected rear-ended 2013 Nissan Leaf up to Berkshire, NY from Duluth, GA. It is now in field trials as a farm machine in Upstate NY. Despite the lack of current ground clearance it is performing well in dirt and mud. I will be skidding firewood very soon. https://journal.classiccars.com/2018/06/08/doodlebug-1923-ford-model-t-tractor/ https://www.thehenryford.org/collections/explore/artifact/188731?AssetId=THF811118

My sister in-law Mary Beth Dowdell (Grover) passed away this week. Some pics from April 2018. It usually isn't the nice stuff that makes us grow.

We were up in NY this week. I managed to get my new truck stuck pulling tubing on the solar hot water system, which I just decommissioned. The 4 wheel drive was not enough. The clay/sod topping of the land on the farm is really amazing at getting things stuck. My tires are also terrible at breaking the vacuum. Douglas got me unstuck with superior tires on his Land Rover and the judicious use of sand ladders. We found an old diner-style jute box in Frackville PA. I thought they were all gone.
