Cortland NY Airshow and the Farm

I was up in NY for the weekend. The weather was pretty nice. We fished in the farm pond and had large mouth bass and fresh eggs. It really shouldn't be called fishing in the pond. It is more like catching. We didn't get any of the whoppers that are in there, but we got some nice ones. DJ got a lot of mowing done. The fields are looking good. I don't get tired of driving up on top of the hill in the jeep and looking down the valley. Pictures don't do that one justice. We went to the Cortland County Airfest. They had a C-54 which was the primary aircraft used in the Berlin Airlift. It was inspiring. The dog and the rooster get pretty close. They both avoid eye contact with each other, though.

We made some Chakalaka stew recently. I had a can from South Africa and it was time to eat. Canned foods taste better after a year or two. It was quite tasty and I thoroughly enjoyed pronouncing Chakalaka. The Tesla has an impressionist side for its full self drive robot. The screen shows a string of buses as a train passes ahead. I kinda like it. The robot definately likes to consider objects with people rather than just objects. The weather really turned nice at least for a few days. The leaves are really popping out, as well as the pollen. It was a good oportunity to run the whole fleet. I am planning the radio systems for the Humvee and getting my electrical problems sorted out. I am still quite angry about the shop that decided to hook up the batteries incorrectly and cause some issues. It's fun to drive, not comfortable. Almost the exact opposite of the Tesla.

DJ and I toured the CNN studios in Atlanta Sunday. I almost bought a house last week in Duluth. I wasn't quite fast enough on the trigger. Someone else got the deal a few hours ahead of me. There are some really good deals out there when you are bottom fishing like me.

I visited a large yellow equipment manufacturer in Illinois last week. Big tires, big iron. My weekend was great. After getting back to base in ATL I went to Missouri. The trip felt like a trip to Brazil. The opportunity to spend a bit of time touring and feeling calm was better than good. It was my first visit to the Gateway Arch in St Louis. I was pleasantly surprised. The architectural aspect was better than I expected. The ride to the top is done in these very small tram cars shaped like cans, perhaps only 4 feet in height. You can feel the arch sway in the wind when you are at the top. The architect was Finnish. Just like Angry Birds. The diner in the picture was very American indeed. This weekend I have been reflectful of our time here in Southern California. I don't feel I live here although it has been over a year. Not sure why. I guess it is because I don't own any real estate here. California is indeed a bit like a separate country rather that one of the US states. When Kobe Bryant died last week (taking off less than a mile from our apartment and crashing in a familiar place just north of LA), it was another reminder that this is the place where the megastars live. Name almost any megastar and although they may not live here they will very commonly spend time here. I have almost forgotten what bad weather is. I walk to work everyday. I wear only a sport coat everyday. I have used an umbrella maybe once. It is common to get a small shower (or a very heavy dew) in the night and it will be dried up early in the morning. It is low humidity. Angie and I went for a short drive to Chino (inland) today. We had the top down on the freeway up to 90 mph (or so)....
