Broken Stuff

It seems like the last couple weeks is about broken stuff. Angie was rear ended on her way to work. The car is broken. The refrigerator also decided to croak. Trying to catch up, gain back lost ground. We have a new car, very similar to the rudely smashed up car. I had it shipped from Texas. Also have a new a new fridge and backup freezer and fridge. Spring is very sprung. The pollen seems worse that usual this year. In Atlanta we complain about the traffic and the pollen, neither one is really as bad as we say.

Work commences on the house. "Ready, begin."

The "Fall landscaping haircut" is revealing a lot of nice plants as we knew it would. The neighbors are all nice. I have an interior designer coming over this weekend. I had the basement garage door replaced and I am nibbling at organizing stuff and what-not. I obtained some Peavey PV 115 commercial speakers to be driven by my vintage Mcintosh MC 2105 PA and C26 Preamp. I am going to drive the "fill in" speakers with the Dynaco ST 80 amp. With this setup you hardly need a sub-woofer since the main speakers are good down to 46 Hz. But, I am looking for a suitable single-channel DC-coupled vintage amp to run the sub-woofer. I may have to resort to vinyl records to get the low frequency input. Good thing the house is brick. It doesn't shake much.

You may ask where I am taking pictures of Korean stores. I am in Duluth (of course). These stores are within walking distance of my house. Great food. I had an awesome Ramon Noodle the other night. Travel without all the jet-lag.

Things are great. It is just lonely.

Spring has sprung in Berkshire. The weather was great Saturday. I riggged up a tractor back-blade on the tractor and it has become a formatible dozer. We took the llamas for nice hike outback. The woods were as beautiful as expected; the buds are getting green and you can still see through the woods. Nothing is hidden by the leaves as it will be in a few months. I got some more sand for the garden and will be turning that in soon. The chickens have been having a great time picking bugs from around the house and letting us have their eggs. I went for a very nice plane ride a few days ago in a Cessna 172. The weather was near perfect. It was possibly one of my best flights ever. My interst in aviation is hightened lately; I was just reading about the DeHaviland Twin Otter aircraft. I am expecting to get a ride in one of these this year. I had a great flying lesson last night. My instructor is great. He was laughing at me because one of my takeoffs was so bad. That is how *I* learn. He understands that. He said I am ahead of the game. What a great experience. My mouth was getting pretty dry at times. There is an awful lot of information to process. It is challenging. My training plane is for sale (1966 Cessna 172G) here.

I have been traveling a bit. I ended up getting stranded in Detroit. Delta Airlines put me up for the night. I am home now. No worse for the wear. I don't get upset at the airlines (no matter who I fly). People are often at their worst when they travel. They have "home" issues. It is a complex situation. Just be safe. Have a great plan B. Can you imagine if the pilot got on the intercom and said "trust us"? When someone says "trust us" it is distastefully condescending and you should not be trusting. I took a pic from the airplane of the farm and roughly outlined the property lines. Also, a nice pic of the llamas. They are getting ready to watch "llama tv". They will all move in close quarters, sit side by side and spend all night getting their view of the world.

A Commonplace Book: Work Jokes: Meeting Bullshit Bingo I get such a kick out of some of the office rumors/facts that go around work. There was some major secret news at work today (last few days) where the seniors were going around telling the high level managers what the lower folks already knew. It is all about information. Information is everywhere. Management of information is not like the days of the iron curtain. Trust is not something you can count on. The golden rule does not apply. It is an unfortunate. There are new rules of no rules. That also is unfortunate. Integrity must come from within. There is no substitute.
