Machinery Infatuation

Image
I bought my first NEW piece of farm machinery. I am not sure if this is a failure or a success, but it is different. I picked up a NEW Rotary Cutter (bush hog, brush hog, mower, etc) from a dealer. It cost me almost as much as the tractor did with its bits of hardware and options. It seems to work well on the CNH Boomer 33. I planned on getting up to NY in the next couple of days, but Gracie has been sick.. she has been up and down. The steroid treatment and a change in diet seem to be helping at this point. Besides hauling the tractor and mower up to NY I have numerous events planned over the next month. I will be in Charlotte for a conference as well as Tucson Arizona and of course other events and activities. I started installing radio equipment in the Humvee. It now has a telescoping 30 foot antenna, a 24 volt to 12 volt converter, a removable SDR radio and some other stuff to be sure. I'd like to get it to the Stone Mountain Hamfest -- thats what i am shooting for. I thr...

Barred Owl

Image
I snapped this pic of a Barred Owl in my back yard today. They are large, probably about 16 inches tall. I liked it when he starred at me. He is backwards. His head is twisted totally backwards. He twisted both ways for me.

Road Atlanta

Angie and I participated in a Porsche Club of America (PCA) event this past weekend. They call it a tour. We met up in Norcross and drove together to Road Atlanta in Braselton GA. We did some laps and eventually had lunch in Dahlonega. It was a lot of fun both using the car for what it was designed for and hanging out doing social things like we used to before the pandemic. I also went up in the Piper Warrior as well. Time to get checked out on some other planes. I noticed an interesting spec comparison. My C172N Model has a top speed (Vne) of 182 MPH. The Cayman S has a top speed of 172 MPH.

Hanging Seats Now Available for my Late Brother and Sister in Law

We just went thru a major reorgization in our flying club. I received a significant dividend as well as other perks. It was a great move to grow the club and make it even more sustainable. I sold "my" 172 into the club as the third aircraft. We are now looking to purchase our 7th aircraft. Our latest plane is a PA-28-236 a Piper Dakota. It is very cool. Aeroventures Great People. Great Club. I will be flying more. It is a great hobby. I didnt get the boat in the water yet. The spirit didn't hit me. For sure though that doesn't mean I am sitting around-- much. I decided to finally hang the two canvas hanging chairs that my late Brother James and late Sister-in-law Mary bought us. I made some great brackets and mounted them very well in the gazebo at the lake behind the house. I also added a wifi repeater. I am proud of how I attached the hippie chairs after thinking about how over the years. Mary, James, your seats are ready.

I went flying again this weekend. I flew up to Anderson SC. They built a whole new terminal since I was there last. It has to be the best General Aviation (GA)terminal I know of. The plane is so much better equipped than years ago. It has an autopilot, ADS-B, and other avionics upgrages including a G5 MFD. With a Garmin 430 and deluxe engine analyzer, it was good before, but now it is excellent. Using the autopilot to help handle the workload really helps in learning the new avionics. It is very impressive seeing the other airplanes overlaid on the chart on my iPad. The boat isnt in the water yet. I will be working to get it in the water on Memorial day at least. It has some very cool LED lights now.

I took my bi-annual flight review this past week. Time flies! I am looking to fly more than I have been. I took a picture of the track that looked like fun, although I dont know what it is. It looks like a training course perhaps. I am looking for some new adventures. The flight club Aeroventures has grown so much. We are reorganizing again. A definate successful investment on my part. I just bought some stock in ticker "SV" which is a merger stock to bring Aerofarms public in July as ticker "ARFM". I guess I am now positively biased towards entities that start with "Aero". In doing some stalls in the plane I think I acheived a personal best -- 39 knots slow. The Airspeed indicator is not very percise especially outside the flight envelope, but the ADS-B data shows the speed. Vlad passed his CDL license. The tractor barely fits in the neighborhood. He will be on the road almost all the time now. He will likely be staying with us for his occasional s...

Weather has been great in GA. We had some violent storms last week, but this weekend. I am working on the boat, getting ready to launch it again (hopefully for a couple of years. I am upgrading the electrical system, new canvas, new lighting including LED gunnel lighting. It will be nice.

I went flying this past weekend. It has been awhile. I enjoyed flying around gently waking people up from their Sunday morning snoozes. Flying really is a great experience. I flew around Blood Mountain. I climbed it a few time over the years, it's a good workout. It is effortless to fly around. Very empowering.
