The Nissan Leaf on the Farm

Image
With tribute to USDA and other government furnished information of the post war advice converting Model-Ts to tractors --"Doodle Bugs". I towed the resurrected rear-ended 2013 Nissan Leaf up to Berkshire, NY from Duluth, GA. It is now in field trials as a farm machine in Upstate NY. Despite the lack of current ground clearance it is performing well in dirt and mud. I will be skidding firewood very soon. https://journal.classiccars.com/2018/06/08/doodlebug-1923-ford-model-t-tractor/ https://www.thehenryford.org/collections/explore/artifact/188731?AssetId=THF811118

I have been building my tool collection lately. I have had this cool 4 inch (cute) Delta Rockwell 37-290 jointer around for awhile. I bought it at auction a number of years ago. Interestingly, there is a lot of information/following on the web. Mine is now ready for production in my shop. I decided to leave the paint on the tool-head as-is. Rewired, sharpened and trued up, it is a welcome addition to my shop to add precision. I was going to add a 1.5 HP motor and/or change the pulleys. Not necessary. The only technology add is with the wiring and the power-twist v-belt to reduce vibration.

I am back from Europe (again). Saturday through Saturday this time. Many meetings, workshops, presentations and meals, mostly in Germany and England. We had the opportunity to visit William Shakespeare's house. It is less than 20 miles away from our European Operations HQ. We had some snow in Munich. Seeing snow is a bit of a novelty for me nowadays.
Here is a link to some very familiar scenes in Antarctica. It is hard to believe I deployed 10 years ago this year. http://www.atlasobscura.com/articles/a-beautiful-look-at-antarcticas-harrowing-ice-runways

Check out this Fendt 1000 tractor. I am not photo-shopped in on this picture. This machine is the largest draft tractor in the world. It has features such as front view camera in the hood and side door wipers. These features will help avoid running over cars that may be sharing the roadway immediately next-to or in-front of this colossal machine.

I have decided to take three days off. Saturday, Sunday and Monday. It is carnival weekend and Chinese New Year weekend. It only makes sense. Although it is lunar calendar based, these Christian and Asian traditions don't always align. Sounds Global. We will be there. Refer to the cryptic chart Angel drew up. On top of all that it was Super Bowl Weekend! Who Cares. We watched. It doesn't matter.
