Wyoming and Idaho

We are back from a quick vacation. I managed to score three (actually several more) bucket list items in 4 days. 1.) Long Snowmobile Trip. 2.) Yellowstone Park and 3.) Wyoming. I reached my 50th State --Wyoming! And we took a 90 mile snowmobile trip in Yellowstone National Park. We went to the "Craters of the Moon--National Monument and Preserve" in Idaho and also stopped at Idaho National Laboratory (INL) where I got to see (with my own eyes) the very cool nuclear powered twin turbojet engine. It was a successful experiment in the 1950s and 1960s. https://whatisnuclear.com/safety-minutes/htre-3-meltdown.html Of course, I had my Radiacode scintillation detector with me and yes, the apparatus is "Hot". The screenshot of the readings from my three walk-arounds the artifact. I swear you could smell the radiation. There was a very un-natural burnt smell something reminiscent of burned bakelite. Although, I am quite certain the emitted radition was not the source...

I have flown about 200,000 commercial miles in the last year. There is a pic below that shows what 200k miles of of boarding passes looks like. Now that the paper boarding passes are being replaced with electric ones on smart phones that image will get more rare.

DJ and I did some exploring in Atlanta. There still is quite a bit to explore. One thing is for sure the people are nicer (less rude) in Atlanta than anywhere in NY. That grows on you. I have a few stories about that. That is the Olympic torch from a more local angle. We went to the Varsity, the local burger place.

We went to Stone Mountain park for Memorial day and hiked the 5 mile Cherokee trail around and over part of the giant chunk of granite. It was an appropriate place for a Yankee to spend Memorial day. Stone mountain park is really a giant memorial of confederates. There is no secret about that and there are no memorials for other folks of the civil war. The sermon at church in the morning was about memorializing victims of all sides in a war. It was a very applicable message. I hadn't considered that there was so much memorialization of the confederacy.

Today was aviation day in Northern Atlanta. We went and heard Shuttle Command Pilot, Colonel Eric Boe at my monthly Pancake breakfast event at LZU. After that it was to the monthly BBQ and seminar at American Flyers at PDQ and the "Good Neighbors" airshow. All the events were excellent.

Later this month I am in Kansas for 3 days and then off to Prague Czechoslovakia for a big meeting of the team. I really like my job. We are making a big difference.

I have fond memories of the Varsity. Isn't it really a 'hot dog' place? 2 chili dogs with the works please!!

How's that car of yours working out? What's the status of the Bakery??

Now... go get some air time in that plane of yours.

Yeah...Hot dog place, slaw dogs. I ma not sure of what the local equivalent is to a Nick Tahoo's Garbage Plate.

We shut the bakery down. We are figuring out what is next. Business is that way.

I was in Tampa FL last week. It was cold. I thought I could never say that (Florida and cold), but I just did. It was cold in Atlanta as well. I woke up to a dusting of snow/frost in the back yard last weekend. The boat is in the water, but we aren't using it. The hot tub get use though. I have some additional responsibilities at work this year. It has excited me. Challenge is something I need. I am planning trips to Germany, Finland, California and NY. Angie is unexpectedly stranded in Paris this evening. She should be home tomorrow despite strikes, and semi-strikes that are ruining France. I have added a pic of my personal record-sighting number of people on a motorbike in South America. I count 9 people on the bike (trike).

Well it is saturday Morning and I probably should be working on the house. I plan on making a large addition to my website regarding the house project that has followed me around for the last 5 years. Class is over for now. We go into distance mode for the rest of the semester. The proffessor seem good and the material looks interesting. Bonnie and I looked for old water mills to rehab/restore in chenango and surrounding counties. We found one.. but it was too far gone (besides the one that was recently torn down) the search continues. It was a busy week. I have to box up stuff that I sold on ebay this week. It is always a pain, but worthwhile.

The Weird Site -A classy selection of weird, strange and bizarre web sites and news facts. Today was a strange day. Not that every day is strange, but today I decided to recognize today as strange. I woke up 5:00 am and got the fire going again, surfed the web, drank coffee, made the usual to-do list. Started on the mead process, burned garbage, fed llamas, fed chickens. Started on ebay process, sold three items on ebay, and listed the llama beans. Thought about work and scenarios Got fire going again... needed serious reconfig in firebox. Some of the fingers used to hold fire became disjointed. CAUGHT CAT ON FIRE!... The orange cat (Tioga) came up to me on my computer stinking, looking for affection. He was rubbing on me and me and the monitor, and the desk, meowing... I thought it was outside rolling in the garbage or something, but no he had somehow caught himself on fire... what a dip sh#t.
