With tribute to USDA and other government furnished information of the post war advice converting Model-Ts to tractors --"Doodle Bugs". I towed the resurrected rear-ended 2013 Nissan Leaf up to Berkshire, NY from Duluth, GA. It is now in field trials as a farm machine in Upstate NY. Despite the lack of current ground clearance it is performing well in dirt and mud. The Relay for Life went pretty much as planned. However, I got a sore throat and a nasty cough over the last few days. I wasn't going to sleep out in fear it might get me more sick. My friend DJ did the keynote speech for the event. She did a great job. There wasn't many dry eyes.

I have been incredibly busy the last couple of weeks. I have been combining a lot of things and planning my evenings for the whole week pretty much minute by minute. I was a bit annoyed that my trip between the home center (after my flying lesson) to the chainsaw place (closes at 8PM) that I got into a traffic jam. When I drove buy I took this pic of the reason I was in a traffic jam. I decided that I can be annoyed a little bit compared to these folks.

The Nissan Leaf Gets a New Rear Axle

Well, I finally have a salvage title for the 2013 Nissan LEAF (Actually I dont have the title yet, but I think they mail it to me. We are far from settled with the insurance company for sure. It has been six months since Angie was rear ended. The following chart shows a very sad and disturbing trend. Insurance companies aren't paying out. It should be criminal. I went shopping for a new rear axle so I can get the car driving again. The rear ended axle was so bent, the car couldn't move. The new one with no connecting bits was over a thousand dollars. The cheapest used ones I could find on ebay were over 500 dollars. I finally scored at a local used parts place for 95 dollars (removed) and with associated bits such as bearings, bushings, parts of the brakes. It took me a concentrated day with cancelled and moved meetings to get the axle replaced and the car running again. The accomplishment felt good. The following is the webcam of the Greene airport. This is looking down rnwy 7. So you can see me taking off coming towards you (normally) on 25. I am planning on flying at 5:30 Thursday the 7th of August. I will be doing takeoffs and landings. Not surprisingly, to practice landings you have to do takeoffs. 5:30PM Thursday..
