The Nissan Leaf Gets a New Rear Axle

Well, I finally have a salvage title for the 2013 Nissan LEAF (Actually I dont have the title yet, but I think they mail it to me. We are far from settled with the insurance company for sure. It has been six months since Angie was rear ended. The following chart shows a very sad and disturbing trend. Insurance companies aren't paying out. It should be criminal. I went shopping for a new rear axle so I can get the car driving again. The rear ended axle was so bent, the car couldn't move. The new one with no connecting bits was over a thousand dollars. The cheapest used ones I could find on ebay were over 500 dollars. I finally scored at a local used parts place for 95 dollars (removed) and with associated bits such as bearings, bushings, parts of the brakes. It took me a concentrated day with cancelled and moved meetings to get the axle replaced and the car running again. The accomplishment felt good. Last Thursday Bonnie and I went out for a nice boat ride on Geneganselet lake with Saul and Carol Thau. It was really nice. It is a nice lake and it was a relaxing experience during the week. During the day on Thursday I had a hard time.

My truck was leaking diesel really bad and llama "Professor" has a tumor on his foot. I spent the morning bathing in diesel fuel to fix the leak, while I was waiting for the vet to come. The vet says we have to excise the tumor and get a biopsy. The professor is having difficulty standing on that foot. We are of course worried. Probably early this week we will schedule the professor's surgery.

The following is the webcam of the Greene airport. This is looking down rnwy 7. So you can see me taking off coming towards you (normally) on 25. I am planning on flying at 5:30 Thursday the 7th of August. I will be doing takeoffs and landings. Not surprisingly, to practice landings you have to do takeoffs. 5:30PM Thursday.. What a great trip! I have hundreds of photos. I am sorting thru them. I took a lot more photos than I expected. I have too much to say here. It was quite an adventure from a lot of angles. Denver was a great experience. We stayed no more than one night in a particular place.
