Summer Starting to End on the Farm

It has been good spending time on the farm. I really had forgotten how quiet and dark it is here. It can actually be a bit unnerving. The leaf doodle bug was put to work in the forest. However, it looks like the car will be going back on the road. We can say it failed field trials,but that would only be partially true. The better utility value at this point is more suited to getting a teenager back and forth from high school. The mycological aspects of the farm did not disappoint. The pics of these shrooms are not photoshopped. The coal stove (very heavy) is loaded on the truck. It will be rebuilt in Georgia if I can save it. Coal stoves are increasingly out of production. When they are gone they are gone. The small wood stove is now in its place. The pic of the red sky in morning was indeed a warning of weather. We had strong storms and tornados in Upstate NY. Although I was travelling much that day in the area, I missed the worst of it.

I put a winch on my new truck. I am using a 2-inch hitch receiver with Anderson SB350 electrical connectors. That way the winch can come off the truck easily and used on my Trailer, back of the truck or elsewhere such as on the Bobcat. Of course when you have a 350 Amp electrical supply you can make jumper cables that connect to the connectors as well. Nice system.

Just back from Europe again. This time it was Germany and Budapest Hungary. The Stuttgart Airport terminal design wins the first-ever Dowdell Airport Structure Design Award. I got the opportunity to take the metro in Budapest this trip. It is one of the oldest and nicest Metro systems in the world.

Plane Crash that seems close

We had a plane crash in the area over the weekend. I was very familiar with the plane and had met the individual that passed away. My partner was interviewed on the news about it. The different accounts I have heard is that he was a very capable pilot and perhaps a combination of bad luck events is the best way to describe it. We went to a live music event in Duluth last night. We are fortunate to have a venue so close to home, close enough to walk from our home on the lake. Although this video was two years old, it was just like last night. Same artist, same place, same song. To me, this piece congers mental images of Santiago's journey in "The Alchemist."

And it'll only get more nuanced and more flexible. It can read aloud better than you can. Which means that anything that's ever been written can be perfectly read to you. Which means that anything a computer figures out or computes can be delivered to you with audio quality that meets spec. That's what AI keeps doing... things we said were impossible. Most of us shrugged when computers could drill holes or assemble machines with more accuracy and speed than a person can. And we avoided the topic when we discovered that computers could read x-rays with great skill as well. But now, it ought to make you shudder to discover that something as basic as speech is now better than the typical human's. Any speed, fully customized, in clear tones with great pronunciation...
