Back South Again with More Projects

A lot of driving. I have forgotten how much driving is involved when on the farm. Everything is far. But I also had to drive up and back twice to Syracuse to pickup/drop off Angie at the airport and a business meeting for Wisdomino in Albany. Yeah it was a lot of driving for me. All and all it was about 4000 miles in three weeks. Early in the morning I decided to check out some auctions (dangerous). I ended up being high bidder on a 2015 New Holland Boomer 33 ( "hours unknown, does not run, may have problems, no key, no battery" ) from the State of Tennessee. I figured I could swing by Nashville and pick it up on the way to Georgia. And indeed I did. It was only a couple of hours extra, maybe 4. But, it was more efficient than going to Georgia and then back and forth to Nashville. Nashville is about 4 hours from Duluth. So I was looking at a 4 hour savings. I think I need to be in the air every week nowadays. If it isn't piloting myself, it is riding on a commercial flight. The need thing just occurred to me. Jane... stop this crazy thing! This video is a good combo of Brazil and Aviation. They go together.

I realized this morning I haven't blogged in a coon's age (whatever that means). I am finishing up a week long meeting in Vianen Netherlands. Today, Friday, I will be in Utrecht Netherlands all day. We went to a DITA XML conference that was held in the same buildings as where Rene Descartes philosophized. Great place for discussion in the formative years of the semantic web language. The Dutch people have been fun to learn about and it has been a very productive trip. I am looking forward to sleeping in my own bed in Atlanta Saturday night. I expect to sleep for many hours. Its not that my bed here in Europe isn't comfy, there is just something special about your familiar home bed. I expect to close on my new house in a few weeks. There are so many foreclosed properties on the market it slows down the processes of selling bank owned properties. I am looking forward to getting the work done to the house and living on a lake. It has been a great holiday weekend so far. I started off by flying up to NYC for Friday evening, dinner and a trip to the top of the Empire State Building and Times Square. After Manhattan, I took a bus to Binghamton NY. Talking to the bus driver I learned he has been driving that particular route for 25 years. Amazing. We saw a bear on the side of the road on RT 17th. I was not fast enough with the camera. Driving that route for 25 years that was only the second time he had seen a bear. "I'd rather go by bus." --Prince Charles My farm looks good. There are lots of animals there and they are well cared for. A walk through the woods was very refreshing. I expect to close on my place in Duluth by the end of June.

I made a bunch of runs around this nice little lake in Wichita (wee-cheeta) this past week. It sure was a refreshing difference from the hamster wheel I am usually on in the gym. The lettuce in the beer is my trend setting idea of healthy eating. Who says you can't get what you want?

I am in Kansas this week. Unfortunately my camera got broken with the TSA folks at the airport. What a complete PIA the security checks are. I usually get the precheck lane in Atlanta which is the way things used to be pre 911. Other countries check like pre 911 too. I am planning my weekend. Work is going well.

I went to the PDK airshow today. PDK is the second busiest General Aviation airport in the United States following only Teterboro NJ. I don't fly into PDK yet. I will at some point for sure. The weather wasn't very good for an airshow. In fact the weather was beyond my personal minimums for getting out and just flying around, without aerobatics. I also went over to my future house, signed some paperwork, planned and measured some. I have access to the property, which is nice. My reality check today indicates there isn't really that much needed to move in, plumbing mostly. Since it is a foreclosure there were some elements of a "scorched earth" approach to the retreat. The scuttle efforts were primarily in the form of ripping out all the copper plumbing and air conditioner. It is easy for me to fix.
