I am back from another European trip. Meetings in Sweden, France and Belgium. Generally, a different hotel every night for a week, and 8 airline segments in 7 days-- pretty typical.

I see labels like this "SKUM" on the fire extinguisher all the time. No shortage of irony between western language variants for sure. There was a lot of snow and cold in Northern Sweden in the city of Umea. It was getting light about 8:00 in the morning and getting dark at 3:00 in the afternoon. It is the beginning of February after all. A menu in France I experienced and some food and views in Belgium.

Alpaca Forum at AlpacaNation Work has been tough on me lately. I am jam packed with meetings all day tommorrow. I have something going on in the evening from 6:00 to 9:30 and I have to get to work early to take care of some projects. It is going to be a long day... on top of that it is my birthday. This does not sound like the way you would want to spend your birthday. I will get up at 5:30 get to work before 7:00 work to at least 5:00, drive to Owego and get home at close to 10:00 pm. West to East and back. A busy trip for sure.

Last weekend I had a quick adventure. I flew to Tampa picked up a moving truck, got it loaded up at my Brother's and drove to Atlanta and unloaded. Then flew back to SoCal. I did manage to lose the keys to the rental truck. I decided that wasn't much fun, but I am sure I learned a valuable lesson, just not sure what it was. I also managed to take down a phone line across my driveway with the truck. Opps. We had dinner with my cousins in Huntington beach while they were out this way last week. It was a great dinner in a great place (Dukes on Huntington Beach), so much to talk about. It turns out my half-niece Marina is headed to Antarctica right now. One World Works : Taking time out Today it is back to work. Most of the folks have been away for two weeks or more. It is a new year and time for resolutions, and reflection. I already have a bid on ebay for Fawna's combings of wool (an ounce or so). It is only 2 dollars but she will be the first one of the herd to actually buy a bale o' hay. I was also thinking about the power of a journal as I keep in this blog. I don't capture everything thats for sure but it is fun to see what I was doing a couple of years ago. Things change.

South Pacific travel - Fiji, Tahiti, Tonga, Samoa, Cooks We are planning our next vacation. It appears we may meet up with Nostril and his family in Australia. They can get there pretty cheap from Japan. I was astounded when I looked and saw that the round trip from JFK to Tokyo is only about $550.00 US. Cheap. It looks like we can get to Australia for about a grand. We will probably rent a house on the coast somewhere. Of course, we will have to see Sydney since I haven't been there before. It is about 10 below zero outside right now. The coal stove cannot keep the house warm alone. The furnace has come on a couple of times this evening. I am trying to figure out how to get more heat out of the stove. I am thinking that some of the air vents are partially filled with ash. It is way too hot to dismantle those parts now, however. I hope the llamas are ok. I turned up their heater, and gave them more straw. It is cold out there though, even for them.

I am planning a trip to Southern Africa. I am planning on Zimbabwe, Eswatini (Swaziland), Botswanna, South Africa, Lesotho, Namibia, Mozambique and Zambia. I decided to ask Chat GPT 3.5 to help direct me in the sequence of travel. The result seems to have saved a lot of my time. Let's see how that order works out as a finish booking. I am skeptical since travel efficiency on commercial airlines has little to do with a straight line being the shortest (cheapest) distance between two points. A couple weeks back I did a co-presentation at a conference regarding AI in language translation and have been attending other events to educated myself better on AI. It is a real thing and a game changer. Executives will be able to skip over middle management more relying on the "pseudo-wisdom" of AI prompt chats. It will work.
