Weird, Wild, stuff, as they used to say in the old days. I hope it is not copyrighted. This is a pic of the (best we can figure) of a reflection of the moon in the jeep. It had absolutely freaked Bonnie and I out. We were having a fine day day and we saw a weird "glow" from around the jeep. It looked like a cell phone or some "LED encrusted electronic bling"... It was the moon. This one UFO confirmed and explained in Berkshire NY. Take a close look at the pic. Lighten it up; see if you can see the jeep. I have not tried, but in person it was clear it was not the same color as most stuff you see on the farm at night.
The weather is great-- cool, low humidity, dry. It is easy to get used to. I found an original air-box for the Honda on Ebay. I needed a few other parts to put the car air intake back to factory original. Things always cost more and take more time. But it was a mini-project and it is done. This is a pic of our cat jewel. It was great to get a pic that makes her hetrochromic eyes stand out. She is a beautiful cat for sure. Rare and beautiful. At work we had our 2024 Demo Days where we invite customers through their respective dealers to try out many different types of equipment. There were many Excavators, Dozers, Dump trucks, Wheel loaders and even some forestry equipment. It is a annual event and it is fun/busy for employees. As part of the event we were lucky to get one of the current year's Williams Formula 1 cars on display for a couple days. It was very cool showing up for work in the morning and seeing it in the lobby. I have never been so close to F1 car during its act
Small farms Bonnie and I went to a wedding yesterday. That was nice. It was in a small church in Virgil, NY (in between places). James and Georgie got married. Now they have 7 kids between them. I think there are five girls and two boys. The oldest is younger than 10. Everybody has to have a hobby. I had a good time. We are working on the yard again today. I am working mostly with stone. They are plentiful and mostly in the way. I found a great use for old roof shingles. I put them under the stones in the washes I am constructing. It looks great and should keep the weeds out for quite a while. The shingles are also plentiful and inexpensive. There is no shortage of work. I had to get out of the sun for a while. The basement is cool. I am tinkering with some technology projects. You can see the bluebird sticking her head out of the house. There is quite a bit of activity in the bluebird house. It probably was not the best time to build the stone ring around the well head. The tr
It has been a pretty strange week in a lot of ways. Not in anyway that I can put my finger on specifically, but strange nevertheless.
I skidded a few trees out of the woods for firewood Saturday. I got some pretty nice ashwood. My little articulated Holder C500 tractor is awesome for getting in and out of the forest. The articulation really helps get around trees. I got the logs from down in a revine, so the tractor was put to the test. I didn't get stuck, but I did need to disconnect the logs and attach them again from another angle a couple of times. I used the 4-wheel dif lock a few times too. The wood split up nice with an axe and I put the cord wood up for use this winter. We have been burning quite a bit of wood since it hasn't been that cold. I have a ton of coal out in the barn.
My main computer has given me fits. I spent about 6 hours on Sunday trying to get it back. I think the CD ROM drive or adapter failed which won't allow me to do a reinstall off the s
I haven't been to a hamfest in probably 10 years. They are still happening. They certainly are not as big as they were back in the 80s and 90s. But they still happen. An ever-reducing fraction of the expereince is still pulling from state of the art communications technologies. Otherwise they are celebrations in the antique, classic and nostalgic. It's fun to have conversations with folks that understand the specifics of very eosteric (compared to the general population) of radio, electronics and technology. I saw one product that I wrote the manual for many years ago (The MDS new "P" Model). Angie decided to help out. We left the house incredibly early with the truck that was loaded up the night before. How early was it you might ask? Well, we went to Waffle House for Breakfast on the way to set up and the waitress told us to have a nice night when we left. I sold a few items, and I couldn't help but buy a few things. (Military Antenna base for the Humvee,
