I am no longer part of the Vestry at Christ Church Norcross. I served my full term as the Buildings and Grounds liaison. It was three years. There were a lot of items to deal with over the years. But the effort wasn't the work. It was the responsibility and knowing that I wasn't doing enough. I think most people get that feeling with obligations. Maybe not. I am sure the time and responsibility will be quickly reallocated. When I signed on I figured I would learn something. Now I am thinking about what I learned along with the hows and whys. I think my Grandfather would have approved. There is a lot to plan. It is all about lists.

I started searching through my own blog (certain that I had blogged about the concept earlier) about the principle of lists. I didn't find it. Classification starts as lists. Plain and simple. The "list" is probably a fundamental of all civilization. There are two types of people.

  • 1. Those who make lists.
  • 2. Those who don't.

Which one am I?

Planning for a suitable tenant(s) and deciding what (if any) NY property to sell is important. Looking at property to live in in Georgia is downright fun. DJ's business is of course a focus of attention. Once you have started a business or two it can be a bit addictive.

There was some interesting valley fog the other day (the next valley over). I thought it was a bit striking. I also noticed a noon-time 360 degrees sun-parahelia (rare).

I will be traveling a lot for a while. I am drinking from the fire hose.

Send an alien a Postcard.. or a Blog for crying out loud. I saw something today that I had never seen before. I saw the end of the rainbow. Truely, it was the end of the rainbow. Although the photo does not show it, (since I had to boot the beast up...blah blah blah..) Anyway, the rainbow was clearly in the foreground of the trees in the pasture before I took this photograph. Bonnie and I were pretty much in awe. Although I do not believe in these things personally, I may be up in the pasture with a metal detector soon enough, ya know now. The little men appearing afterwards had little else to do with things either.

Honshu and Okinawa

I am back. I spent 10 days in Japan, 5 days for work on the main island of Honshu and 5 days of solo adventure in Okinawa. Travel is so invigorating dispite the uncomfortableness. Jetlag, anxiety, crowds, and other discomforts aside, it is mind-expanding and rewarding. Work went well. I flew a new airline (Skymark) from Tokyo to Naha. I am always wary of strange discount airlines and all the traps they set. However, I had a great expereince with "Sky". I was actually shocked. Super easy checkin at the airport, no extra fees even with extra luggage. The primary mission in Okinawa was to visit the Peace Park and the suicide cliffs of Okinawa. From what I understand, at the end of WW2 the inhabitants were encouraged to commit suicide rather than surrender to the Americans and get tortured and eaten. Here is an interview with Anne Aghion the documentary filmmaker I met in Antarctica. I very much expect to be in her Antarctica documentary. She says she has just started to edit. My beard was frosted real nice one day and they got a nice shot of it close up. I very much suspect it will not end up on the cutting room floor. We shall see. The United States Antarctica Program (USAP) is quite small so knowing folks in the film or credits is pretty much inevitable. Being away in Antarctica actually helped me miss most of the winter as strange as it sounds. It is tough to get up in the dark, go shovel, plow, dig and otherwise move the snow out of the way. And after that you get the treat of moving your vehicle through it all to get to work or wherever you are going. Upstate NY is a tough place to live. The summers make up for it around here. Welcome to tribal.com WOW. If you ever doubted accupunture .. let me set you straight.. Holy Sh*t. I got home just in time to see Dr Wendy and Dr Jim allowing Fawna to stand up. Fawna was so excited.. She kissed me and blew in my nose. It definately blew my mind. She was able to walk a couple of steps even. She thought she was going to go outside and do the llamadance with her brothers but we stopped her. Eventually, she lost strength and had to cush. I could feel a tear welling up. She saved her life for a while longer. Now I have the accupuncture needles and the knowledge of where to put the needles. I get to try it next. What a trip this has been.

I had a chat with a info-type person on email and I produced the following paragraph that belongs here. This industry that we are talking about (that really doesn't even have a name yet).. is the future similar to the industrial revolution. The use of information is the future. There are cultural issues, technical issues, economic issues all culminating around a core set of ideas. I am excited (can you tell?). At lunch, Greg Mills and I went and looked at the bridge that was hit by a truck. Actually, a truck carrying an excavator (with the boom not lowered well enough) smashed into the bridge in Genesee Valley park over I-590. One of the I-beams (6 or 8 foot high) was bent by 2 feet. I am glad I wasn't close by when it happened. I can only imagine what the manager said to the driver of the truck. "Why don't you take tomorrow off" or something just as catchy perhaps.
