Colleagues from Japan

We had two colleagues from Japan join my team for two weeks. It was a great expereince to share cultures, workflows and real work expereince for comparison between the US and Japan. We did lot of activitys outside of work and had some fun. Angie joined for on the weekend activities. It will be a very memorable time for all involved.

Sunlight all the time is weird. I worked until 6 pm and you expect to go out to a dark world (since it is so cold out)only to find is just as bright as you did at lunch. It is like tht 24 hours. There will be getting no used to that. Its just not right.

My first real work day went well. I went up to a site just out of town called "T-site". It was at least 20 below with a 25 mph wind. You have to dress. It looks like I will not be out in the field until after the 24th or so. I can't get into some of the training. I am in fall hazard training tomorrow.

Vergason Technology, Inc Fawna is still down. Although Douglas and Bonnie managed to get her to walk a step or so yesterday. The steroids took a while to get into her. We figure that since we could see a small bludge of fluid where I gave the injection untile she got some exercise. We worked with her last night and she seems really depressed. Today the Vet accupuncurist comes. After that.... ? Yesterday, work was bad and got worse. man o man. (The silent blog...blog...blog...too hot to handle at the moment.)

Last Saturday was a real hoot. Eric and I flew from Gwinnett county airport up to a fly-in at the private Mountain Air airport in Cleveland GA. It is a grass strip. It was good to land on grass again. Eric was telling me to go around on short final. I had it made easy. It was a lot like the Greene, NY airport. Landing and taking off with a good sized audience was great for my ego and confidence; it felt great and we had a great time. There was a guy with Pitts Special that did an airshow. We watched some of it as we did the run up and he got out of the way so we could get back to Gwinnett County. That was great experience. I am currently in Southern Brazil. Like usual it is an adventure.

It looks like I will have to go to a country other than the USA to look through wikileaks. What side of the "iron curtain" do we really live on these days? Although currently you can still get there via http://wikileaks.nl/ but for how long? Access is problem enough; additionally, there will be significant hurdles in getting to site data. Our country is being run by gangsters.

My kayak trip was awesome! So what happens when three restless boys want to do something exciting in Atlanta over the Thanksgiving holiday? Shoot the Hooch. Traverse the Chattahoochee river in grand style. We did it in a combination of couchsurfer, thrillseeker, and urban explorer (mostly Couchsurfer). We met for the first time last week. The participants, one from France (a recent MBA grad from Georgia Tech), one from California (a 20 something Mechanical Engineer) and me. We put in at the Buford Dam at Lake Lanier. We put in illegally since the park was closed. (I mean who would want to use a park on a holiday?) We parked illegally at both ends of the run (not sure of the reasons, but an accumulation of a $50 parking ticket). And, we camped illegally for two nights. So, let's add some danger with two beginner kayakers, and very fast water. It is very dangerous, at least one person has died in the Chattahoochee in the last year from swift water.
