I went to Elliot Brack's funeral yesterday. He was a friend. And he was quite a character. He was one of the first people I met outside of work when I moved to Georgia. He was sort of a variation of the main character of Tom Wolfe's "A Man In Full". I used to say that Elliott and I had a 50-50 relationship. He told me what to do and I did it. His 50% was telling me. My 50% was doing it. He was a fixture at my church and involved me in all sorts of things. Including organization of our "Civic Breakfast" where we invited leaders from the community for information and opinions of the community. It goes on and on. I just finished watching NOVA The Elegant Universe”. I love that stuff. Although I cannot understand the equations it is fascinating to think about “who lives in these other dimensions?” Do they exist? If they do, how can we prove that by experiment? The theory of everything may exist right now. We just can’t truly understand it in a real world comparison or model. Pretty cool stuff.

It was great letting the llamas into their new pasture. I found it to be a bigger relief than I expected. Things bug us all. We are masters at suppression. The small llama environment bugged me. It has been fun watching them test their new environment. Professor the Alpha seems to have a harder time than the others. He has been confused of how to get into the new pasture when he sees his buddies there. One of the great things about having animals is using them as a model for understanding human behaviors. I think it also the same thing as "Farm sense".

Aries posed for me. Can you see his vitality? I think he grew two inches with the new pasture.

We are planning a bon fire this weekend. I have a spot out in the middle of a 40 acre pasture that I am going to torch. I am calling the fire department to make sure they have started the brush truck recently and that it has gas in it. I plan on moving parts of some old buildings to the piles of junk, brush and trees. It will be safe and amusing. A good time to be an inane simple thrill seeker.

Things are surreal. You know, in a dreamlike state. There are lots of new experiences, faces, stories, places and things. It energizes me. I am in Kansas for part of next week. I always wanted to go to Kansas so I can better understand, "You're not in Kansas anymore." Although, I doubt the trip will help on that dimension. Interestingly enough, I have never been to Kansas, one of the very few states I have left to visit. I am working on my travel schedule. It is tough to plan with the European holidays; actually is is OK to plan, but difficult to get things done. OK. I am an American, admitted. I am sure my friends will convert me given the opportunity. It is considerably hotter in NY state than it is in Georgia the last few days. The heat followed me North and did not return with me down to Atlanta. I am semi-moved in to my apartment. The big news. Probably bigger than I can comprehend right now. We have a new family member, Ian Daniel McMullen . He was born May 11, 2006 at 9:11 PM ET. He weighed 8 pounds 14 ounces and is doing very well. He is the son of Becky and Douglas McMullen of Vestal NY. Click pic for video

Memorial Day 2026

We have had a dry spring weather-wise this year. But now Mother Nature is making up for it. There was flooding on what we call "The Connector" in Atlanta. The connector is both I 75 and I 85 running through downtown. Needless to say it is a very large artery. The forecast looks like it will be rain for about 10 days. Here is a rare picture with at least a piece of each car in the current fleet. It is too many vehicles. It takes too much attention for all the care and feeding. The Humvee goes on display today.
