I am back from my most recent roadtrip. I loaded up the Tesla and started letting the hands-off Full Self Drive (FSD) supervised take me to to points North. First stopping in a campground in Tennesee and up to Pittsburgh for the CIDM Convex Conference (which was the best conference in years). There was a celebration of the 20 years of DITA XML. I was an earlier adopter. My presentation went well and I semi-stealth launched wisdomino. I demo'd some extra cool software we developed and will be selling in weeks to come. It's truely game changing. Of course, there will be much more than that to come. After that it was on to Franklin, PA. to meet with some colleagues in the mining division and onto the farm stopping in Olean NY for the night. I am pretty sure it was the first time I had driven across the entire Allegany National Forest. I ended up driving through the very dark forest expanse during a night time thunderstorm. I sneaked up on some deer this morning before work.

I am running the Smithville 5k tomorrow morning. I expect to finish in 24 minutes 30 seconds. I am picking up the post hole digger tonight. Hopefully, I can get it working this time and get some holes drilled. The llamas will appreciate the grass the deer were enjoying this morning. It is a weird juxtaposition between the deer and the llamas. They are curious about each other. Both the deer and the llamas are limited by a fence.

I am flying this morning. We are getting off the beaten trail. We are going to Mt Heine on White Island and Williams Cliff on the side of Mt. Erebus. We are trying to determine if we have a found a better radio location at these two points. We are taking GPS, maps, a 900 Meg radio and ice axes. It will make the network simpler if I can prove these spots will work. Cravasses are common near Williams Cliff so we are on high-guard about where we will set the helo down. We may not set down at all. Cravasses are really problematic down here. They are hundreds of feet deep and they are very often covered with snow. Sometimes the snow may be 6 or 10 feet thick and may support equipment for a while. Then one day the equipment breaks through. Ice radar is normally used for traverses.

After much discussion and research we have determined that we have recently returned from above the Arctic Circle. It was close however, the arctic circle is not as fixed as we would like to think. From Wikipedia: as of 30 August 2017, it runs 66°33′46.8″ north of the Equator. We took the following pics at 66 53" 74" N. More pics to follow.

I am a bit overwhelmed with work and getting my new house in order. There is only one of me. I do like my current position quite a bit. It is way better than The Raymond Corporation. I am just back from a day trip in Wisconsin. Now that I have the initial salvo of plumbing and electrical work done, I am concentrating on cleaning and organizing. I had some colleagues from Kansas over the other night. That was nice. I expect to do more of that type of entertaining here. Kicking back in the gazebo down by the lake with a Brazilian beer (absolutely not available in the USA) was a great experience. There is electricity in the gazebo and on the dock, but I have to figure out what I need to do to get the lights and what-not working.

I have seen another Christmas come and gone. We had the Kids here for the most part then went up to Brockport for Christmas dinner. I got Bonnie dance classes (with me). I must have gone through some weird ion cloud. I think never was the original time line specified for that type of project. I hope it doesn't kill me. I also purchased a very nice, however slightly used hose reel on ebay. It has a 110 VAC motor to make the rewind easy. It will be a nice addition and help in getting water to the animals in the winter. It is a luxury item. I am working on getting my blog archive working again. It is all time consuming.
