Carbon Monoxide!?

Weird. The smoke alarm went off, not incredibly odd when I am using the fireplace, but it wasn't the smoke detector. It was the CO alarm. I was totally surprised. It had never gone off as long as I have had one, over many many years. Yep, after resetting it a few times. It was getting a reading over 200 ppm CO. When I took it downstairs I got a reading near 300 ppm. I started getting light headed at this point. After thinking maybe the furnace heat exchanger failed and puzzling around a bit I figured out what happened. As part of the huge winter storm that recently covered almost half of the US, we lost our electricity. So, being well prepared, I rolled out the generator and started doing what I normally do. The generator (although it was completely outside) was creating CO to get in the house. Using the fireplace draft (and possibly other leaks) the whole house created a vacuum around the seal of the basement garage door. After the CO got into the house the forced air heat...

It is probably an urban legend. But in my world it is very believable.

1st place

This year's runaway winner was Mr. Merv Grazinski of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Mr. Grazinski purchased a brand new Winnebago Motor Home. On his trip home from an OU football game, having driven onto the freeway, he set the cruise control at 70 mph and calmly left the drivers seat to go into the back and make himself a cup of coffee. Not surprisingly,! the RV left the freeway, crashed &then overturned. Mr Grazinski sued Winnebago for not advising him, by reading the owner's manual, that he actually could not do this. The jury awarded him $1,750,000 plus a new Winnebago Motor Home. The company actually changed their manuals on the basis of this suit just in case there were any other complete morons buying their recreation vehicles.

I will be using it for planting blueberries this coming year. It is good for all sorts of transplant crops. Yeah we are back. Sorry for the delay. What a great trip. I have lots of more pics to post. Luckily we had left before the big earthquake. Interestingly. the epicenter was right where we went fishing. Here are a couple for starters. I had a pretty good seat on the plane ride huh? It was a great ride in a Cessna 208. It was very interesting for me and time flew watching the pilots. I learned a lot about turbine power plants. We caught 14 sailfish in one day. Fishing was excellent! The smallest one was about 80 pounds. The largest was over 15 feet long! In thinking about the fishing trip I realized the expereince cost more than my first boat. Then I thought then that the fish were bigger than my first boat. We caught well over a thousand pounds of fish. I didn't get a pic of a fish jumping, but I am still having the vision pop into my head.
