I am no longer part of the Vestry at Christ Church Norcross. I served my full term as the Buildings and Grounds liaison. It was three years. There were a lot of items to deal with over the years. But the effort wasn't the work. It was the responsibility and knowing that I wasn't doing enough. I think most people get that feeling with obligations. Maybe not. I am sure the time and responsibility will be quickly reallocated. When I signed on I figured I would learn something. Now I am thinking about what I learned along with the hows and whys. I think my Grandfather would have approved. The fact is, reality is complicated, and not amenable to the "one large idea" model of problem solving. The only way that problems get solved in real life is with a lot of hard work on getting the details right. Not by some over-arching ideology that somehow magically makes things work.

I spoke at the LavaCon this week. My presentation was very well received. There were well over 100 folks who chose to attend my presentation. Afterwards we had a supplier meeting in Cartersville and a hike up Pine Mountain. https://www.lavacon.org/ It was good to enjoy some brief moments with a llama as part of the conference. And it was good to meet up with lots of folks I have got to know over the years.

Late last week I out of town for an short "domestic trip" in Tampa. After returning I didn't quite get my prescriptions and vitamins back in their proper spot at home. Sunday, I was planning to read at Church. Since my pills were a bit misplaced, I accidentally took a sleeping pill just before heading off to Church. I punched through it all, but I "seemed a bit tired". You can't make this stuff up.

It appears I am getting a new ISP, new satellite internet connection and a new email address. I have finally had it with Earthlink and their Satellite connection. I am getting some new service Oct 17th. It will be a welcome relief with the problems and poor customer service over these years. It reminds me of my old hosting company. The problems just grate on you and grate on you. It is quite a relief after you invest the time to get a new supplier. It was quite iritaing when my earthlink email stopped working when I was in Antarctica last year. The current problems are mess between slow connections limited Internet access. The video didn't seem to work on the previous post. It is a new system. They will get it going at some point. My Departmnet won the Center for information Developmnet Managemnet (CIDM) Rare Bird award this Year! Thta is a big deal. We are dwarfed by the compition and the other submmisions came from Microsoft, Cadance, Mentor Graphics and others. It feels gr...
