The Nissan Leaf on the Farm

With tribute to USDA and other government furnished information of the post war advice converting Model-Ts to tractors --"Doodle Bugs". I towed the resurrected rear-ended 2013 Nissan Leaf up to Berkshire, NY from Duluth, GA. It is now in field trials as a farm machine in Upstate NY. Despite the lack of current ground clearance it is performing well in dirt and mud. DJ in is ATL. We had a lot of tornadoes around here the other night. Compared to the last time I lived in a Tornado area (Ohio) a lot has changed. The radar is so good nowadays you can watch the storms on the TV with great accuracy. We watched tornadoes on TV go by us both to the north and south. The weather in my neighborhood never got worse than a mild thunderstorm. I didn't mind. I have enough excitement.

Things have been busy. I think though that things are always busy and not busy at the same time. It is often how you view it. I had a pleasant experience a while back. The power went off for several hours in the middle of the night. The house stayed warm and the grandfather clock still chimed. The way I noticed the power was off was because the clock radio was blinking. I may have to get a wind-up alarm. We are going to look at an old water mill this weekend. We looked at it years ago. It is for sale now. The following pic is a different old water mill I discovered a few years back. For people who are not looking, it can be very difficult to appreciate what they are. Most of them are not being saved. They are slowly but surely going away.

I volunteered in the galley this morning for 4 hours. Time went fast. I cut and arranged fruit for the weekly monster brunch we have here at McMurdo every Sunday. Since I have professional cooking experience I was not relegated to the dish tank, although that would have been fine. I will do it again. The experience reminded me that there is so much for people to explore if they just step off their normal course just a little bit (anywhere on the planet they may be). I am now an insider in the galley. I really need to be conscience about my job since I get to travel and go on mountain tops and so on. Most folks on station are pretty much experiencing the station. They do not get the trips that I do. Greatness starts with gratitude. Gratitude starts with goodness. You can't fake it. I am working on a great presentation when I return. I have music. The weather was too bad to get in the air in the Atlanta area for VFR. I am going up Wednesday evening. I am not doing much traveling this month. It is a bit weird. Saturday I had breakfast with a Flight Instructor for Delta, saw a presentation from an expert Cave Diver, then an Aviation safety seminar and then to look at the "Liberty Belle B-17". These war birds are impressive thinking that there were half a dozen kids crammed into these things trying to kill the enemy. A lot of bravery was needed that's for sure. I have a hard enough time without someone shooting at me. I will be going for a ride in the yellow open-cockpit plane in a couple of weeks.
