The Nissan Leaf on the Farm

With tribute to USDA and other government furnished information of the post war advice converting Model-Ts to tractors --"Doodle Bugs". I towed the resurrected rear-ended 2013 Nissan Leaf up to Berkshire, NY from Duluth, GA. It is now in field trials as a farm machine in Upstate NY. Despite the lack of current ground clearance it is performing well in dirt and mud. I am in Bavaria. It is quite nice here. We have about three inches of snow on the ground. Of course, the food and beer is great. One of the things that I enjoy when I travel is the weirdness that is exposed about my own native language. I am traveling between about 10 or so different languages. I wish I could learn them all. The best I can hope for is to learn one or two to an intermediate or beginner level and grow my vocabulary a few words at every opportunity.

Here is a selection on a coffee machine in Germany. I see similar things in every country. Truth is stranger than fiction.

Hahaha, very nice one: "extra hell"

I am German (Bavarian) myself so I find that quite amusing. Never crossed my mind, that it could mean something TOTALLY different in another language such as English.

Things have been busy. I think though that things are always busy and not busy at the same time. It is often how you view it. I had a pleasant experience a while back. The power went off for several hours in the middle of the night. The house stayed warm and the grandfather clock still chimed. The way I noticed the power was off was because the clock radio was blinking. I may have to get a wind-up alarm. We are going to look at an old water mill this weekend. We looked at it years ago. It is for sale now. The following pic is a different old water mill I discovered a few years back. For people who are not looking, it can be very difficult to appreciate what they are. Most of them are not being saved. They are slowly but surely going away.

The weather was too bad to get in the air in the Atlanta area for VFR. I am going up Wednesday evening. I am not doing much traveling this month. It is a bit weird. Saturday I had breakfast with a Flight Instructor for Delta, saw a presentation from an expert Cave Diver, then an Aviation safety seminar and then to look at the "Liberty Belle B-17". These war birds are impressive thinking that there were half a dozen kids crammed into these things trying to kill the enemy. A lot of bravery was needed that's for sure. I have a hard enough time without someone shooting at me. I will be going for a ride in the yellow open-cockpit plane in a couple of weeks.

California has some surprises for me. 1.) The driving style is very compatible with mine, fast, no stops, no waiting at lights. 2.) People are very friendly and treat each other as individuals. 3.) Some things are not as expensive as you may think. (Fresh food, Cars, Hotels, Car rentals). Here are some pics from walking around the apartment complex.
