I am back from my most recent roadtrip. I loaded up the Tesla and started letting the hands-off Full Self Drive (FSD) supervised take me to points North. First stopping in a campground in Tennesee and up to Pittsburgh for the CIDM Convex Conference (which was the best conference in years). There was a celebration of the 20 years of DITA XML. I was an earlier adopter. My presentation went well and I semi-stealth launched wisdomino. I demo'd some extra cool software we developed and will be selling in weeks to come. It's truely game changing. Of course, there will be much more than that to come. After that it was on to Franklin, PA. to meet with some colleagues in the mining division and onto the farm stopping in Olean NY for the night. I am pretty sure it was the first time I had driven across the entire Allegany National Forest. I ended up driving through the very dark forest expanse during a night time thunderstorm. Although I normally trust the Tesla FSD on the Interstat...

This is the year of stoves. We just got a new cook stove and I finnaly installed the coal stove we have had. It is definately a neat feeling to go out back and pick through the wood lot for firewood. It is amazing that getting heat for our selves is that easy. Easy with a chain saw that is... I take the jeep out back and hack up a fallen tree. I am working on some hickory now. We lost some small hickories last winter in the ice storm. I have to sharpen the blade often. That hickory gets as hard as the anthacite coal. We are using bagged coal I had around that I got with the used stove we bought eight years ago. It feels good to use something that was in storage so long.

Always a lot going on..

I have had a serious of "near zero days" (reference hiking jargon), but I think they mostly just seem like zero days. I am getting stuff done, just not at 100% efficiency. Not sure anyone can move with 100% efficiency... Anyhow, I am planning on starting my next journey on May 1st. -- more details as they unfold. I know what I like and dislike. I know what turns me on and off. It's time for that knowledge to be guidance. We booked a trip to Wyoming/Yellowstone park in a few weeks. It will tackle at least three items that have been on my list 1.) Visit Yellowstone (in winter). 2.) A longish snowmobile trip. 3.) A visit to Wyoming. That will be my 50th state. That will make it all US states, 100 countries and all continents. I will likly be getting involved with MTP (Most Traveled People) https://mtp.travel/ where they break countries into regions. I was out in the Mojave Desert in California. A lot of aviation history has been made and IS being made out this way. In the grainy long-distance pic of the airliners you can see a Boeing 747SP. It is a unicorn for plane spotters for sure. It is only the second one I have seen in my life. The other one was in Narita Japan in 1985. I think the one here might be the one owned by the NASA Armstrong (Dryden) Flight Research Center https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Boeing_747SP

Colleagues from Japan

We had two colleagues from Japan join my team for two weeks. It was a great expereince to share cultures, workflows and real work expereince for comparison between the US and Japan. We did lot of activitys outside of work and had some fun. Angie joined for on the weekend activities. It will be a very memorable time for all involved.

Elance - Home Mom was down from Rochester. She brought a five pound cheesecake. We didn't get as much done as I hoped. I never do. The weather was pretty good. However, having to mentally deal with Fauna is a strain. I am to take more time off this week. I need it for time and time away. The pigs have noticeably grown already. I would have a picture posted, but the camera crapped out again. I have a bid in on one like it on ebay. Hopefully I get the one I am bidding on tonight. Camera on ebay
