Another trip between Georgia and the New York farm

Its unusual that I make the trip this late in the year. Although it is highly unlikely it would snow (and bring the road salt and all the other bad stuff). It is often rainy. I had excellent weather. The main objective was to bring the brush hog up and mow trails. The trails have been disapearing and there are a number of bush islands appearing everywhere a small finish mower can't do the job. The tractor worked well. Back up over a multiflora rose bush with the brush hog up and drop it down and take care of business --at least for another couple of year or so. I spent many hours years ago yanking these things out of the ground with tractor and chain which yields a more satisfactory long term outcome. I will be doing the same with the largest ones for sure. I understand that these bushes were originally planted as a natural fence. Animals and humans alike don't like the thorns. They are invasive.

Well I am back. I lost little data. You will always looose something though. It takes time to get the machine the way it was. Hopefully it is better now. It was not shutting down well before. The registry was kinda messy.
Now I have a 20 Gig and a 40 Gig drive in the machine. I expect that to be the last upgrade for this box. I don't need the fastest most powerful machine. The Satelite Internet link is my bottle neck.
Last weekend Bonnie and I went to visit Bob and DJ McCullough in the next town over to see their baby pygmy goats. They are fun.
I will post a pic as soon as I rediscover my passwords for the ftp connection to the server.

LavaCon is a conference now going on 25 years. Its always fun at conferences where folks collaborate on what the future holds. This year I drove to Charlotte NC from Duluth GA to attend. I used the Tesla in Full Self Drive. I went park-to-park without touching the wheel for over 200 miles. It's crazy. I don't think most people understand how well it works. Lots of nay-sayers still, but it really does work. Be on guard, but enjoy. I spent some of my time "driving" while conversing with Grok as part of my daydreaming. I was discussing with Grok an idea I have of building a West system (cold molded) old style barrel-back runabout maybe 20 feet long- all varnished Mahogony. Of course this boat would have an exotic 12-cylinder engine under a transparent engine hatch between the twin cockpits. We are planning my Mom's memorial service for Sept 12 in Rochester. Angie and I did some flying, tested out the new alternator and com 2 radio. I didn't realize until I looked at the pic turning final that the gyro had precessed that bad. It has been a problem. (Look at compass in the inst panel and look at the mag compass on top of the inst panel.) We also went for a drive in the Honda and got a bit sunburned. I have been organizing my shop in the basement. I way underestimated how much time and effort that takes. I have bought a number of new tools recently. The tree is MY orange tree that I started from an Orange seed from an Orange in my lunch in 1997. I have almost killed that tree many times. It loves to be outside in the summer here. I have trimmed and trimmed that tree over the years. The tree has been through a lot. I guess I have too. The bowl of figs is from our fig tree in the front yard. They are ripe now. Perfect.

Send an alien a Postcard.. or a Blog for crying out loud. I saw something today that I had never seen before. I saw the end of the rainbow. Truely, it was the end of the rainbow. Although the photo does not show it, (since I had to boot the beast up...blah blah blah..) Anyway, the rainbow was clearly in the foreground of the trees in the pasture before I took this photograph. Bonnie and I were pretty much in awe. Although I do not believe in these things personally, I may be up in the pasture with a metal detector soon enough, ya know now. The little men appearing afterwards had little else to do with things either.
