The Industrial Revolution 1700-1900

I managed to relax a little over the weekend. I did not find it very satisfying however. There is a lot to think about.

I feel terrible about the folks that were laid off.

I am going to a Toasmasters demo meeting in Geneseo tommorow night. I think in January I have 12 Toastmaster engagements. That is a lot. I have been learning alot as Area 11 Governor. It gives me a much better perspective than if I was not engaged in the organization. It is such a positive organization.

I have to get some boxes weighed today that I am sending out to the west coast.

Ya know, as a student of information science and a legacy of philosophers and technical folk. I think some pretty weird stuff sometimes. I mean, for instance, It seems to me that we are (as a human society) on the verge of a new enlightenment. The older methods of experimentation, observation and exposition of conclusions are pretty much out the window for practical science. Today, it seems that we take a shot, miss and kinda guess. We will make it up as needed in the future. Our older procedures have overrun themselves and we don't have time to reflect or correct (and of course we gave up years ago on documenting the whole mess). New Job, New Car and Always New Experiences

We took the new Tesla Model Y up to Tugaloo State park on the border of Georgia and South Carolina. I bought non-OEM cross bars for the canoe. The install was a bit tricky since the mounting is in exact places under the roof glass. The test was successful since I was driving up to 80 mph with 50 mph winds. No issues whatsoever. I did put a line from the bow down to the truck for some additional piece of mind. We did some canoeing, but not as much as hoped due to strong currents in the Tugaloo river. Cooking and eating out in the woods always makes food taste better.

Commute as a New Experience

I am always interested in new experiences. Well, most new experiences if they are not obviously dreadful. I have a new commute to my new job. Google maps says its an hour. In practice it is longer (in my straight-up following lord and master maps of Google) due to car wrecks, and general bullshit. I don't have to be in the office everyday, but a long commute is new to me. I am evaluating it. I am listening to audio books which is a great use of time that I otherwise probably wouldn't be doing. I dont have any pictures, I am too busy watching the road ahead for flashes of brake lights and nutso drivers.
