I am no longer part of the Vestry at Christ Church Norcross. I served my full term as the Buildings and Grounds liaison. It was three years. There were a lot of items to deal with over the years. But the effort wasn't the work. It was the responsibility and knowing that I wasn't doing enough. I think most people get that feeling with obligations. Maybe not. I am sure the time and responsibility will be quickly reallocated. When I signed on I figured I would learn something. Now I am thinking about what I learned along with the hows and whys. I think my Grandfather would have approved. I am getting my flying current. Time flies (ha!). I have some specific flying goals. Given my geographic diverse lifestyle, things like flying as a private pilot become a lower priority. In Georgia, I have planes to fly. Currently I am a part owner of 4 planes (looking to buy more). I think we have well over 60 members. Aeroventures LLC. I miss the club.

Here in California things are way different with a capital "different". One the ways things are positively different is that I have ready-access to a fantastic flight school. It is only about 2 miles away from my work and home.

I spoke at the LavaCon this week. My presentation was very well received. There were well over 100 folks who chose to attend my presentation. Afterwards we had a supplier meeting in Cartersville and a hike up Pine Mountain. https://www.lavacon.org/ It was good to enjoy some brief moments with a llama as part of the conference. And it was good to meet up with lots of folks I have got to know over the years.

I had a chat with a info-type person on email and I produced the following paragraph that belongs here. This industry that we are talking about (that really doesn't even have a name yet).. is the future similar to the industrial revolution. The use of information is the future. There are cultural issues, technical issues, economic issues all culminating around a core set of ideas. I am excited (can you tell?). At lunch, Greg Mills and I went and looked at the bridge that was hit by a truck. Actually, a truck carrying an excavator (with the boom not lowered well enough) smashed into the bridge in Genesee Valley park over I-590. One of the I-beams (6 or 8 foot high) was bent by 2 feet. I am glad I wasn't close by when it happened. I can only imagine what the manager said to the driver of the truck. "Why don't you take tomorrow off" or something just as catchy perhaps.

It is a normal weekend I suppose. We went to a Toastmaster event in Ithaca last night. Jason and Claudia both competed in the district contests. This was the contest that culminates 2000 toastmasters from across the state. Unfortunately, neither won, but to compete at this level is certainly an achievement. The Columbian guy who won the Humorous contest was a real hoot. I have been patrolling the woods out back with the jeep looking for hunters and getting firewood. There were no signs of hunters on opening day which was great with me. I take my camera and my note pads to capture back tags. Anyone I catch will get a ticket from the DEC. I have a bunch of firewood to process. I should have enough for this year, but you really can't have too much. Worst thing is that I will use it next year. As long as I can get out back (snow not too deep) I might as well bring it forth. It is a great excuse to spend time in the woods. Even though it was in the 20s I was down to a t-shirt working ...

I have been ill for the past few days. I have cut back on all activities 'cause I know if I don't I will end up with "ammonia". I will be finishing up my adventures in Jamesbay website soon. It really was a great trip. Thanks for stopping in.

My truck can sure get dirty this time of year. In my neighborhood we used pulverized shale on the roads to aid traction. It really makes a mess.
