Colleagues from Japan

We had two colleagues from Japan join my team for two weeks. It was a great expereince to share cultures, workflows and real work expereince for comparison between the US and Japan. We did lot of activitys outside of work and had some fun. Angie joined for on the weekend activities. It will be a very memorable time for all involved.

If I haven't mentioned it, I am working for Edwards Lifesciences in Irvine California. Its a fantastic company and a great place to work. AGCO decided to outsource my global team. I am (and was) dead set against it. It made no realistic business sense. I have moved on. I have been doing some consulting as well.

They say you pay for the beautiful weather in Southern California. You pay straight up with dollars for housing, gas and other things.
But on the other side of the deal the weather is so nice (even compared to Florida in the Winter) you forget it is Winter and there are blizzards raging in familiar places. It really is that nice.

I bought another Nissan Leaf. We have Fish East and Fish West. This is a picture of Fish West while I was parked scoping out another place to charge it up. My work provides free fast changing stations. The battery isn't that good on Fish West. So I am trying to figure out a cheap way for replacement. Maybe there isn't one.

Saturday I went spent some time with Douglas and his new horse. I can't say I would jump to get a horse. But, I always think new experiences are a good idea. His horse is really nice and he has a great financial and care taking plan for it.

Smithville NY I ran my first ever 5K race this morning over in Smithville NY. Smithville is the town that has a great old unrestored mill. The mill captured my attention when I stated looking for property just after I decided to take the job down this way. I hope someday it gets restored. It feels good to do something that is good for yourself for the first time. You have to get over the natural resistance of something new (the biggest hurdle), plan, execute, and reflect. I have now moved into reflect. It was a marathon for me. I am planning on running in the Berkshire Heritage 5k later this summer too. Maybe another one, if there is another one close by. I fueled up last night on some of Bonnie's most excellent Oatmeal Chocolate Chip cookies. My exercise bike generator project is working now pretty good.
